Abstract
Future Data Services is a two-year review by the ESRC into the operations and management of UK data services. Briefing Notes produced as part of the programme of work are intended to provide a short explainer of a specific topic related to the provision and use of confidential data for research. The views expressed in this paper are those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of ESRC or the Future Data Services Project.
This briefing note covers ownership, management and re-use of datasets by archives when those datasets have been created by researchers for other researchers to use
